§ 39-1. Duties of law enforcement.

  • It shall be the duty of the authorized law enforcement officers of the city to enforce the provisions of this Code and the state criminal laws, decriminalized and vehicular laws applicable to traffic in the city, to make proper arrests for violation thereof, to assist in the prosecution of persons charged with such violations, to investigate accidents, to cooperate with the public works director and other officials of the city in the administration of the traffic regulations and in developing ways and means to improve traffic conditions, and to carry out those duties specially imposed by this Code and any other ordinances of the city.

    Code enforcement inspectors of the city are hereby authorized to enforce and to issue citations for violations of the provisions of this chapter concerning parking in designated restricted/handicapped spaces and parking in or obstructing a fire lane, safety lane, fire hydrant or water connection.
